Focus: School Readiness, Academic Foundations, Independence & Leadership

5 – 6 Years Developmental Stage

Between 5 and 6 years, children move toward greater independence and readiness for formal schooling. Gross motor skills are strengthened through activities like skipping, climbing, coordinated ball games, and organized movement. Fine motor skills allow them to write simple words, draw recognizable shapes and figures, and complete puzzles with detail. Language grows into fluent conversation, story retelling, and early reading of simple words. Cognitive abilities expand with recognition of numbers, early addition/subtraction concepts, patterning, and problem-solving. Socially, children develop friendships, show responsibility, follow rules, and participate in group tasks with cooperation. Creativity and imagination continue to flourish, supporting both academic and emotional growth.
